Welcome to our Standard Road site and our friendly staff team. Enchanted Wood Preschool Standard Road is a purpose built preschool which we have owned since 2014. We have recently expanded to the building next door but one to cater for our ‘Under Twos.’

The children have three cosy rooms in the main building, kept in three age related groups - Rabbits (2 years old); Hedgehogs (3 years old); and Owls (4 years old.) In our ‘Under Twos’ building we offer a home from home experience for children aged 9 months- 2 years old.

Each group have their own outside classroom and a large shared astro turfed garden and Forest School area.

Each age group follows a thematic approach to learning based on children’s interests. We use every opportunity as a learning opportunity and continually scaffold the children’s learning to ensure every child makes the best possible progress. We want children to build a sense of well-being and belonging, so will observe and celebrate a range of festivals and celebrations to understand the world around us.

In our Bunnies room we offer a home form home experience with spaces to explore, learn, play and rest. The children focus on the prime areas and use lots of sensory play to discover.

In our Rabbit room we start with building strong attachments with all children, encourage lots of communication and language, social interaction with peers and physical development. The children learn to share and wait for toys they’d like to play with, later on in the year develop close friendships and will start to actively play with each other.

In our Hedgehog room we develop these skills further and start to slowly introduce the other areas of the EYFS they also experience their first transition into a different room with different practitioners as they will at school.

The Owl room is more structured, with high expectations, the children are expected to try and work out conflict between themselves and follow the class rules and boundaries in preparation for school.

Every room has its own outside classroom and there are times in the day when children can go out into our large rear garden. We also have a small, but beautifully formed forest school area.

We are all very proud of our site and watching the children’s development throughout their years with us. We are so grateful to the parents for their continued support in everything we do, and this shines in our positive parent partnerships.

Our enrichment programme offers two weekly Forest School sessions in each age group, where we spend the whole morning outside in the Forest School area, plus Phonics lessons, AW Football Coaching and Baby Ballet. Please see our Enrichment Programme under ‘Curriculum’ for full information.

We are the first steps in the children’s educational journey and want them to enjoy coming in to preschool and be excited to learn and experience new things. For many it is the first time they have left their parents and building these important early attachments to key workers and new friends at preschool helps them to feel happy, safe and secure. Once these skills are imbedded the learning and development will begin and you will see your child acquire new skills daily. We want every day at Enchanted Wood Preschool to be a memorable one and hope your little one has the best time with us!

Enrichment Programme

JOIN OUR STANDARD ROAD WAITING LIST

Our Standard Road site is now full until September 2024. We have some limited Bunnies and Fawns (9 months- 18 months) spaces for September 2024, all other rooms are full.

Open days will take place in Spring 2024 and will be held by invitation only according to spaces available. Please note we will only offer families a visit to the preschool site if they are on the waiting list, this is due to Safeguarding reasons.

Please join our waiting list by completing a registration form to register your interest for this site. The Site Manager will be in contact with you when a space becomes available but if you have any questions please contact the Manager direct.

OFSTED NUMBER

Enchanted Wood Preschool is now trading as a Limited company ‘Enchanted Wood Preschool Ltd’ which was established in April 2024. This means our previous Ofsted inspections under our sole trader status will be found under our old registration numbers. There has been no changes to the settings, so Ofsted gradings are linked under our new registration.

We have kept our old registration links active to provide you with access to our Ofsted reports. New inspections will appear under our new registration numbers.
