Enchanted Wood Preschool ‘Bean Road’ was our original site which opened in 2011. We have recently celebrated ten years at our Bean Road site and every day is just as special.
Bean Road is a term time only preschool running sessions every morning with the option of a full day on a Monday for our 3-4 year olds. We are based within a scout hall in the heart of Bexleyheath, a short walk from Danson Park.
The hall is divided into two age groups ‘rabbits’ and ‘hedgehogs’ and provides a holistic curriculum in the indoor and outdoor environment where all aspects of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum are covered daily following children’s interests.
At Bean Road we recognise that preschool is often a child’s first experience away from their home and parents, so all teachers endeavour to make sure that the children are welcomed to a warm and comforting environment. We have an open-door policy to ensure that communication between the preschool and parents is encouraged daily.
As a pack away site we can keep our environment engaging by setting up new and varied activities each day allowing us to follow the children’s interests. All our teachers are long serving, highly qualified and are passionate about offering a variety of activities that encourage the children to learn through discovery and play. We are lucky to have a lovely Forest School where the children are offered regular opportunities to build confidence and self-esteem through hands on learning in a natural environment.
Each age group follows a thematic approach to learning based on children’s interests. We use every opportunity as a learning opportunity and continually scaffold the children’s learning to ensure every child makes the best possible progress. We want children to build a sense of well-being and belonging, so will observe and celebrate a range of festivals and celebrations to understand the world around us.
Our enrichment programme offers two weekly Forest School sessions where we spend most of the morning outside in the Forest School area, Robot Reg Phonics (bi-weekly), AW Football Coaching, Baby Ballet and Didi Dance (both bi-weekly). Most of all we want the children to have fun! We are the first steps in their educational journey, and want them to enjoy coming in to preschool and be excited to learn and experience new things. For many it is the first time they have left their parents, and building these important early attachments to key workers and new friends at preschool helps them to feel happy, safe and secure. Once these skills are imbedded the learning and development will begin and you will see your child acquire new skills daily. We want every day at Enchanted Wood Preschool to be a memorable one and hope your little one has the best time with us!

Open days will take place in Spring 2024 and will be held by invitation only according to spaces available. Please note we will only offer families a visit to the preschool site if they are on the waiting list, this is due to Safeguarding reasons.

Enchanted Wood Preschool is now trading as a Limited company ‘Enchanted Wood Preschool Ltd’ which was established in April 2024. This means our previous Ofsted inspections under our sole trader status will be found under our old registration numbers. There has been no changes to the settings, so Ofsted gradings are linked under our new registration.
